Meet John
John Ringstad is a 3rd generation Alaskan born and raised in Fairbanks. Growing up in a large family, he learned the importance of hard work and investing in what you care about. He has spent his life fighting for the rights of Alaskans and supporting the local economy.
John attended Monroe and UAF. After graduating he followed in his grandmother’s (Fairbanks Mayor Sylvia Ringstad) footsteps by pursuing change at the government level serving two terms in the Alaska State Legislature, focused on resource development, budgets, private land ownership, and collaborating with local business owners. He has worked in real estate, banking, government and public relations, and as a lobbyist for the school district. He also has served as a board member for multiple local organizations.
If elected, his focus would be creating a sustainable budget to provide necessary services that taxpayers can afford.
Focus on Fairbanks
When asked what he is most focused on for the next term on the Fairbanks City Council, Ringstad stated “We need a good long-term stable budget that taxpayers can afford that also provides for the basic responsibilities of government like public safety.”
He also plans to focus on the protection of individuals' private property rights, revitalizing downtown.
